Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness of fit test for Survey data

چکیده

The Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness of fit test is w ell known when data are obtained from a simple random survey. The procedure involves grouping of the observations based on the expected probabilities and then testing the hypothesis that the difference between observed and expected events is simultaneously zero for all the groups. We consider the weighted analog of the hypothesis and propose a test that accounts for the sample design. Some simulation results are also presented.

Measures of Fit for Logistic Regression

One of the most common questions about logistic regression is “How do I know if my model fits the data?” There are many approaches to answering this question, but they generally fall into two categories: measures of predictive power (like R-square) and goodness of fit tests (like the Pearson chi-square). This presentation looks first at R-square measures, arguing that the optional R-squares rep...

Increasing the power: A practical approach to goodness-of-fit test for logistic regression models with continuous predictors

When continuous predictors are present, classical Pearson and deviance goodness-of-fit tests to assess logistic model fit break down. The Hosmer–Lemeshow test can be used in these situations. While simple to perform and widely used, it does not have desirable power in many cases and provides no further information on the source of any detectable lack of fit. Tsiatis proposed a score statistic t...

Goodness-of-fit tests for logistic regression models when data are collected using a complex sampling design

Logistic regressionmodels are frequently used in epidemiological studies for estimating associations that demographic, behavioral, and risk factor variables have on a dichotomous outcome, such as disease being present versus absent. After the coefficients in a logistic regression model have been estimated, goodness-of-fit of the resulting model should be examined, particularly if the purpose of...

Comparison of different risk-adjustment models in assessing short-term surgical outcome after transthoracic esophagectomy in patients with esophageal cancer.

BACKGROUND Different risk-prediction models have been developed, but none is generally accepted in selecting patients for esophagectomy. This study evaluated 5 most frequently used risk-prediction models, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Portsmouth-modified Physiological and Operative Severity Score for the enUmeration of Mortality and morbidity (P-POSSUM), and the adjusted ...

A comparison of goodness-of-fit tests for the logistic regression model.

Recent work has shown that there may be disadvantages in the use of the chi-square-like goodness-of-fit tests for the logistic regression model proposed by Hosmer and Lemeshow that use fixed groups of the estimated probabilities. A particular concern with these grouping strategies based on estimated probabilities, fitted values, is that groups may contain subjects with widely different values o...
